Millie the Millipede

Millie is a female millipede. Unfortunately when you get millipedes they are often wild caught and it is quite impossible to tell how old they are. 

Millipedes tend to be more active at night. They like to eat most fruit and vegetables even those that are on their way out so they are great at finishing off the veg that is not fresh enough to feed to my lizards.

Millipedes tend to spend a lot of their time coiled up. They can sometimes take a while to uncoil in your hand whilst they check if they feel safe enough to do so. They may also have a little accident so I always have a tissue to hand when holding her. I never thought I'd have creatures like this but they are truly fascinating.
